The morning of September 12, 2015 threatened rain. The forecast predicted rain at some point during the day; outside it was overcast and dreary. Perfect day for a wedding right?

The wedding of Sam and Rachel was held at Events at Iszy’s in Liberty, South Carolina, a relatively new venue on the Upstate scene. With a large open sided barn, pond-side ceremony location, and trees galore, it made for the perfect wedding venue.

As the day unfolded the weather was actually perfect for the wedding and photography. With a 2:00 ceremony, the sun would have cast harsh shadows, making lighting a little more challenging. However, with the clouds overhead, the lighting was even and not too difficult to figure out.

first look

Sam and Rachel choose to do a first-look, or in layman’s terms, they choose to see each other prior to the ceremony. I love it when a bride and groom choose this option! It allows for a relaxing time of portraits and helps to get the wedding jitters out.

We made use of the vast property at Events at Iszy’s for the bride and groom portraits.  Down by the pond we shot the bridal party and family photos, but I was glad to choose to shoot elsewhere for Sam and Rachel’s portraits. Just something different than all the others from the day.

The ceremony was quick and went off without a hitch. We weren’t really sure how the little people involved in the wedding would handle everything, but they were great. As great as 5 children under the age of 5 can act I guess.

The reception was held under the open-sided pole barn and decorated with hay bales and yellow flowers.

As the day came to an end, the bride and groom ran down the path in a sea of flower petals being thrown at them from guests.

It was a great day and a great wedding! Special thank you to my second shooter, Alex Buffaloe – Buffaloe Photography. She was awesome to work with and I loved having her on my team for the day!
