Ahh. Now that Christmas and New Year’s are past we can all catch our breath and prepare for 2012. 2011 absolutely flew by and is now officially in the books. In the coming weeks, I’d like to showcase my favorite sessions with just a little tidbit about the session. It’s a good way for me to review this past year and to see what I can improve for this coming year.
With that being said, my photography goals for 2012 are still in the works, but I do have some of them already written out. One of those goals is to go back to the basics with my photography. I recently wrote a post about Defining my Style, and in it I shared with you that I really want to focus on making that more evident in my photography.
This year I am really going to work on the basics of photography, to get the picture right in camera. I’m going to work on my editing to create more of a concise and cohesive style that reflects who I am as a photographer. I really enjoy bright colors, contrast, emotion, and detail shots.
In looking over pictures I’ve photographed since I started my business in October of 2010, my images have ranged quite a bit in the editing style. I don’t feel like that is fair to my clients and I’m working on improving that in 2012.
I’ve also revamped my pricing to include more options that you have said you are interested in. If you’ll remember I often post surveys or polls and ask for your involvement. This greatly helps me ensure that I’m providing a service you still want and I’m providing products you are interested in. In 2012 I’ll be offering custom designed books that work as a nice addition to your pictures.
My providing books at a reasonable cost, I’m taking all the hard work out of the equation for you. I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t always rush out and get my pictures printed or have them put together in a book. I have slowly been printing personal pictures and putting them in albums since I received a camera. I think I’m up to 2006. . . . All that to say, if I had someone design a book or two from the various portrait sessions I’ve had, I’d be a lot farther down the road than I am now.
If you are interested in having a custom designed book from your session, please don’t hesitate to let me know, even if your session was back in 2010. I’d be more than glad to design a book for you!
Anyways, I wanted to share a bit of what was on my mind this morning.
Since I did just get back from a mission trip to California, I’ll be working on putting together a blog post featuring the pictures I took, along with some fun videos of getting stuck in the California desert, so stay tuned!
