Today’s topic for the 31-day blog challenge is what is something that you miss? That was an easy topic for me. By now, if you’ve been reading my blog for any period of time, you know that I used to show horses. I had the bug from an early age. What little girl doesn’t want a horse at one time or another in her life? I would see horses on TV and tell everyone that I was going to ride that horse. My mom grew up showing horses, so I guess it was in the genes.
There are days were I really miss having horses. I want my kids to love them as much as I do and what better way than to have a few myself? Plus, I love just about everything that comes along with having horses. The smells, the barn, the leather, the hay, and yes, even the mornings (don’t tell my husband that).
If we ever did get enough property for a few ponies, I know what I have envisioned and what my husband has envisioned is going to be a source of frustration and some arguments. He’s thinking a three sided shelter and a pasture will suffice. Me, on the other hand, I’ve got this nice barn all planned out in my head, complete with an indoor (or at least covered) riding arena, tack area, wash rack, and I’m sure we could come up with a few more fun items.
All that aside, I would love to just walk out of my back door and hop on a horse and go for a ride. There’s just something about it that I can’t explain. And that’s what I miss the most.
