Holly and I met in the second grade when my family changed churches. I later transferred schools to begin attending Community Baptist Christian School in the third grade. Throughout grade school, junior high, high school and even college, we’ve been friends. We’ve made a lot of memories, from rolling down the hill in a trash can to getting into trouble at school to living next door to each other our freshman year of college, we’ve been through it all.
You might remember this year was my 10th year high school reunion. Since I always love an opportunity to come visit my parents and family who live in Michigan, I knew I would be attending the reunion. Holly and her husband, Dan, live in the suburbs of Chicago, roughly an hour and twenty minutes from my parent’s home in Michigan. As plans were being made for the reunion, Holly asked if I could take some updated pictures of her family during the same time I’d be home. Of course I said yes and we began throwing out ideas.
I’m not sure who exactly came up with the idea, but we decided to do the shoot actually in Chicago and not wait until they arrived in South Bend for the reunion. So, come Thursday morning, I drove over to the Windy City and met up with Holly and Dan and their two adorable kids, Carson and Malachi.
Of course, when one goes to Chicago, The Bean, is a must have picture. Of all the times I’ve visited Chicago, I’d never been to see the infamous structure. So we started off there. We then walked all over downtown Chicago, to Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, the Chicago sign, Navy Pier, and finally ended with lunch at Giordanos World Famous Stuffed Pizza.
I had a great time spending the morning with Holly and her family and getting caught up on life, seeing Chicago was just a perk.
