I had the distinct pleasure of shooting John and Karina’s wedding on December 28, 2012. I had thought I was done shooting weddings for the year when Karina called and asked if I were available to shoot her wedding in Mishawaka, Indiana. Since I am originally from the area and we were planning to visit my family over the Christmas holiday, the timing was perfect and I said absolutely!

Karina was a bride who knew exactly what she wanted and I appreciated that about her. She also loves pictures and photography, so that made my job easier. And harder. Through countless emails and a few phone calls thrown in there, I had a pretty good idea what she was looking for.

We shot their engagement pictures the day before the wedding since they hadn’t been able to get any done prior. I must say, I really enjoyed the session and I’m so glad we made an effort to schedule one. I can’t stress enough how important an engagement session with your wedding photographer is. It puts both parties at ease with each other and its a fun way to help break the ice.

The morning of the wedding it was snowing and I prayed it would let up before we started shooting. Yes, the snow can be beautiful, but I didn’t want a blizzard for pictures. Thankfully it quit snowing around noon and it left everything looking gorgeous for pictures later.

We started out at the Copshaholm Mansion, which is right next to the Center for History in downtown South Bend. This was a first time shooting at this location for me and I absolutely loved it. I had seen wedding pictures from this beautiful home in the past, and they just don’t do it justice.

I have to give a shout out to my second shooter, Kaity Fuja, of OMG Photography. She did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend her if you are the South Bend area. Kaity was referred to me by an online friend and we actually met the day of the wedding.

John & Karina, you are a beautiful couple and I am truly grateful you choose me to shoot your wedding. I really enjoyed getting to reconnect with you, Karina, and to meet you John. John, enjoy your last year in med-school while in Texas. Karina, I hope you get to see a couple rodeos while you are there!
