In March of this year my sister bought my son a shirt to wear when he was born. It was cute green shirt with a big smiley face on the front with a tongue sticking out. She said that her son, Logan, also got a new shirt and showed me a picture of it on her phone. His shirt said “Big Brother”. That’s how Jon and I found out my sister and brother-in-law were having another baby.
It wasn’t until a few months later that everyone, including Kelly, found out they were having twins, much to everyone’s surprise. Yes, twins do run in the family. Kelly and I often joked that while I wanted the twins, she would probably be the one to end up actually having them. Who knew that we’d actually be right?
Austin and Travis were born five weeks early, but were already good sized. Travis was able to come home with Kelly a few days after being born, but Austin had to stay in the NICU for another week and a half. Both boys are home now and growing so quickly! Kelly and Dave decided to name the two boys middle names after our grandpa’s; so it’s Austin Richard and Travis Dale – which I think is pretty cool.
Anyways, here they are, two-and-a-half weeks old. And, no, they are not identical.
